Online Security Issues Raised Again
Once again, the news is filled with reports of a widespread
It's been reported that around 2 MILLION Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIn, ADP, Yahoo accounts (and others) have been "hacked" and compromised via infected computers carrying malware. The particular form of malware causing the latest issues is being detected increasingly often by cybersecurity firms.
At present it's not known for sure just how widespread this security breach is, but it's probably global in magnitude. It's also not known if accounts were actually entered. But there IS enough knowledge about this security compromise that you should be concerned that YOUR computer may have become infected and any accounts you have might now be compromised.
So what are the experts telling us we should do to protect ourselves at this point and in the future?
Take steps to make sure you have security software downloaded and working on your computer. Make sure that security is on and up-to-date with the most current versions available. Also make sure you download the most current "patches" for your browser(s), Java, and Adobe that are installed on your computer.
As always, I recommend that you check your Credit Report/Credit Scores out (at minimum) once a year to make sure that no errors or fraudulent activity have taken place and are showing there.
