Testimonials & Referrals: My Pot O' Gold

Testimonials & Referrals:
My Pot O' Gold

Testimonials and referrals ...

As a businessperson, it just doesn't get any better than receiving them, right?

Neither is ever a given, no matter how well-deserved. And in this busy world, they can be hard to come by. Clients (even happy satisfied ones) get busy, forget, and move on with their lives after moving or financing a home.

Life intervenes with referral partners too. The search for new clients never ends. New business demands their attention. "Niceties" are easily forgotten during these times. All understandable ...

So I was thrilled when I received a note yesterday from a local real estate attorney that had been gracious enough to refer a couple to me. I felt I'd struck my business Pot O' Gold.

We had moved through this couple's mortgage process quickly and closed their loan successfully just a few days earlier. He thought I'd enjoy reading the feedback they had shared with him regarding my services.

Their message to him read:

Tom,

We closed on Friday and our loan will be funded no later than March --.

We wanted to thank you for referring us to Gene Mundt. The man is a genius and actually really fun to work with.

Thanks,

Chris and Bev

A referral mentioning how much "fun" I am as a Mortgage Originator? And a genius?  Eureka!

I just HAD to share this testimonial with you!

Why?

We lenders don't typically hear this particular type of praise about ourselves or the mortgage process. Fun??

Love it ...

I am so appreciative of their kind words! This couple's very special message did my heart (and ego) good.  And you can bet that I'm sharing this Pot O' Gold testimonial everywhere I possibly can!

How Much Do You REALLY Love That Home?

How Much Do You REALLY Love That Home?

A statement I often hear from my new mortgage clients is ...

"I found a house!  I just love it!"

I think that's exactly what you should hear from clients searching for a home.  A home that will house their life ... and probably represents the single-most expensive expenditure they've made in their lives.  And as their Loan Officer, it's certainly something I want them to feel and experience.

But I also know moving forward, that the intense emotional connection they have towards the home they love and want typically serves as a positive motivating factor during their mortgage process.  Clients "in love" with the home they want to buy are simply much more eager and willing to respond to my requests.  They take action more quickly to facilitate their financing.

Unfortunately, however, I sometimes find some clients show a big disconnect between the "love" they feel for the home they want ... and the eagerness and willingness they display towards taking part in their mortgage process.

And at that point, I'm left wondering ... "How much do you REALLY want that house?"

You see, it's my opinion that once you enter your mortgage process, it's no longer enough to just love a house and the features it offers.  You have to want it enough to make a productive effort.

That home you love?  It must provide you constant and consistent motivation.  It must serve as your carrot.

As an active mortgage applicant, you must do whatever is required ... when it's required ... to reach Closing, your successful goal, and outcome.  In other words, you must make a real commitment.

Committed to Buying a Home? Contact Me!

That commitment must include a willingness to:
  • Work to reach your goal
  • Be Available
  • Listen and Learn
  • Answer questions
  • Make Decisions
  • Follow instructions
  • Provide documentation
  • Fulfill obligations
  • Set-aside or Save money
  • Be disciplined
  • More
Clients that enter their mortgage process with this positive "will do" mindset find the process flows more easily and quickly for them.  And their Mortgage Closing ... the culmination of their efforts ... is a far more satisfying and rewarding celebration.

Found the home you want to buy?  LOVE it?

Then you must prove it.  Be a committed mortgage applicant and home buyer and you will enjoy the home you love sooner ...

Don't Short-Change the Act of Choosing Your Loan Officer

Don't Short-Change the Act
of Choosing Your Loan Officer

Ready to Start Your Financing Journey? Click Here!
The act of obtaining a mortgage has become a deeply personal and individualized pursuit. In its present form, it has little in common with mortgage applications of the past.

Because of that fact, the act of choosing a Mortgage Originator/Lender is far more important now than ever before.  There's far more riding on your choice.

Yet, statistics show that all too often little time or effort is expended on studying and making that choice:
  • According to a Report, almost half of consumers who borrow to finance a home only seriously consider a single lender or broker before obtaining a loan
  • An article by PR Newswire states that more time is spent researching a car purchase (11 hours) and an equal amount of time researching a vacation (8 hours), despite the fact that these items cost just a small fraction of the average cost of a home

Stop.  Think about it ...

  • Do you really want to navigate such an important and deeply personal experience with someone you have no real knowledge of?
  • Do you want to work with someone that can provide you no proof of their business experience?
  • Can you rely on someone that has no documented or proven track record?
  • Are you willing to gamble on the outcome of your mortgage process with someone that past clients (and professionals) have not expressed trust in?

Why is this search so important?

During today's modern mortgage process, the answers provided to your Originator go well beyond the simple basics of "Where do you presently live?" or "What year were you born?"

The Mortgage Originator you choose will learn much more about you.  During your Pre-Approval, Application and mortgage processing, you'll divulge and discuss the most sensitive details of your financial life with the Originator you work with.  Sometimes that can mean sharing info of a more delicate personal nature as well.  (Divorce, child support, collections, etc.

Tell me your story .. Contact me now!
A couple of years ago, I wrote an article about Credit Reports being the storybook of your life.  Via someone's Credit Report, you can learn almost every aspect of their life ... and life path.

It's well known that the Credit Report documents credit, debt, and financial histories.  But Credit Reports also reveal life experiences, successes, and failures.  It displays choices made, both good and bad.  Life's ups and downs are laid bare and can read much like a novel.

Is your personal info something you want to share with someone you've taken no or very little time in seeking, researching, or vetting?

The answer should obviously be "NO" ...  so to safeguard yourself and your mortgage process, what should you do?

What are some of the attributes your chosen Mortgage Originator should possess?  They should be a professional that:

  • Finds YOU important
  • You're comfortable with.  (A rapport between you and your Originator vastly improves the financing experience)
  • Listens well
  • Has a great reputation
  • They should be highly recommended by multiple people, including real estate-related professionals
  • Is experienced. knowledgeable, and trustworthy
  • Is a good communicator
  • Asks you questions & gains facts
  • Has a proven track record of successful Closings.  They can offer you references and testimonials
  • Upon your first contact/inquiry, responds to your inquiries and questions in a timely fashion
  • Provides you thorough information addressing all your questions, mortgage options, and the services they provide
  • Provides you guidance based on facts regarding your  personal finances, not just generalities
  • Will work with you on improving your credit standing, if necessary
  • More ...
There's a lot on the line during the financing of your home.  The home you LOVE.  Your money, privacy, and security.  Your time.  Your emotions.

All these things make it imperative that you take the time and make the effort to find a reputable Mortgage Originator.  To establish a relationship with a quality experienced Originator possessing the characteristics listed above.

You'll know then that you'll be able to trust and rely on them and their services throughout your entire mortgage process.  And that you are establishing and growing a sound relationship that will continue working on your behalf beyond the Closing table and into the future ...
