Summer 2016 in Manhattan, IL: Good Things Come in Small Packages

Summer 2016 in Manhattan, IL:
Good Things Come in Small Packages

It's been said that "good things come in small packages", and that saying definitely applies to small communities too ...

The Village of Manhattan, IL is a good example of this being true.  First incorporated in 1886, the U. S. census shows Manhattan's current population to be approximately 7100 people.

But don't let this Village's size fool you.  This community may be small, but it's mighty.

Manhattan is active and vibrant. You don't have to look beyond a list of upcoming community events being hosted in the Village this summer to see why I say that.  But consider the activities and events hosted within Manhattan just over the last couple of weeks too.

The Manhattan Park District  just hosted its immensely popular annual Civil War Days at the historic Baker/Koren Round Barn Farm Park.

And the Township of Manhattan, partnering with the Village, just hosted an Electronic Recycling for the benefit of its residents last Saturday.  Held in the heart of the downtown, electronic items of all kinds were accepted for recyling.  A great benefit to the locals.

So what can you look forward to during the upcoming summer months in Manhattan if you live in the Village or visit there?

Here's just a few of examples of great things happening within this community:

The Village's open air market ... the "Railroad Farmer's Market" ... returned on June 4th and will continue running each Saturday through October 8th (Closed Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd).
