Drop-off Your Old Non-Working
Holiday Lights for Recycling at the
Plainfield Libary in Plainfield, IL

With the winter weather being so mild here in Chicagoland, Christmas and holiday decorations went up on homes and businesses early this year.  And it seems that the warmer temperatures also gave license to a bit more creativity seen on the houses and lawns in the area.  Lights and decorations are generously utilized everywhere!

It seems, that each year no matter how carefully I wrapped our lights after the previous season , there's always a strand or two that hasn't survived into the next year.   My wife and I discussed whether old light strands could be recycled in some manner ... and at the time I was in the decorating process neither of us had a clue as to the answer.

It's why I was so happy to find the following information and announcement from the  Plainfield (IL) Library.  Now the info below is specific to our area.  But I'm betting that if the Plainfield Library offers this service, there's something similar offered in your area too.

So do some investigating to see what you can find out about the recycling of your old light strands.  So much better to recycle/re-purpose them than fill a landfill with them.
