Best Places for Homeownership in Illinois

Illinois and Chicagoland have had a rough "go" during the last few years.  But a study by CareerBuilder, in conjunction with Economic Modeling Specialists Intl., is showing that the tide might have turned for our State and its business climate.  The study shows that Illinois now ranks as 3rd best as it pertains to business establishment's growth.

Steady business growth within our State is good for the housing market, as it improves local economies which in turn makes for more home sales and purchases.  An Illinois Association of Realtors report regarding the number of home sales during 2013 proves that statement true, as a 18.9% increase was experienced over the previous year's sales.

The website NerdWallet, recently analyzed 121 areas within Illinois to see how they ranked for Home Buyers.  Ranking was determined by asking the following 3 questions:
  • Is the area growing?
  • Can you afford to live there?
  • Are homes available?

https://1609956119.secure-loancenter.com/FreeConsult.aspx     Will County, a part of the Chicago metropolitan area, and also one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S., performed very well under NerdWallet's scrutiny.  Six (6) of the top 20 cities were located entirely within Will County's borders.  Two (2) more cities had a portion/lay close to Will.  (Only cities with a population of 20,000+ were analyzed.)

Those cities, in order of their ranking within NerdWallet's list, were:

      #2.  Plainfield
      #5.  Romeoville
      #6.  Lockport
#10.  Tinley Park (small portion in Will County)
#11.   Orland Park (small portion in Will County)
    #13.  New Lenox
    #15.  Homer Glen
    #16.  Bolingbrook

Based on area, 53% of Will County is still zoned agricultural.  The potential for growth, both residentially and business-wise is huge.  One can project that the construction of new homes will loom large in the County's future.

The Will County cities shown above will definitely experience a good portion of the business expansion and growth to come.  But other, smaller towns are set to grow as well.
